With deep sorrow, we announce that our brother, Samuel Lee Woodruff, 79, transitioned into glory on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Samuel, affectionately known as Sam, was born to Willie Lee and Edna Mae Rice Woodruff on August 7, 1946, in Spartanburg County. He attended elementary school in District six and graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the Army in Anchorage, Alaska.
After his service, Sam settled in Spartanburg, working for the City of Spartanburg as a police officer. He continued his education with classes that enhanced his job performance.
Sam was a husband, a father, and a widower who is survived by his loving family members:children, Nicole Woodruff (Marcus) Smith, Daryl Thompson and Beverly Glenn; siblings, Carolyn Woodruff Harrison, Vincent E. (Sharon) Woodruff and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
To honor Sam's memory, a Memorial Service will be held at a late date.

I had served Samuel through Mobile Meals for several months. He was always a joy to visit. He always had a smile and a kind word. I miss him being on my weekly route.
