Sandra Marie Peterkin was born in Kingston, Jamaica on August 20, 1961. She lived in Spartanburg, SC. Ms. Peterkin transitioned in Easley, South Carolina on March 22, 2025.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her five children, (Late) Garfield Henry, David Lewis, Tavia Henry, Orlando Whyte, Sabrina Graham; her grandchildren, Marcus Herbert, Leah Lewis, Cartier Jones, Ashmonique Henry and many more abroad.
Sandra was a single parent with three reared in the home and two back home in Jamaica and despite the distance she made sure she provided for all 5 children equally. She did her best to instill the importance of family no matter how big or small. Ms. Peterkin made sure that her children understood she did the best she could and was determined to see all of them excel in life.
A few words to describe Sandra's character: Strong willed, funny, loved fiercely, courageous, generous, independent, and a provider. Everyone that she came in contact with loved her for her motherly love. She never showed her struggles, nor did she make them anyone else's. Sandra was very strong willed and confident in her faith that God will make her overcome those obstacles.
Sandra worked as a C.N.A. Throughout her career as a C.N.A. she was very confident in her occupation; she took care of every resident as if they were her own. She went over and beyond and advocated for their proper care. Many loved her cooking which is one of a kind. She enjoyed cooking and feeding others because she knew that she exceeded perfecting her craft in the kitchen. She relocated from New York to South Carolina and purchased her first home and began a new life here. She opened her doors to her children to be used as a stepping stone for them to see a different view of what life had to offer. Everything she did was done with love from cooking, caring for her family, the elderly, and her friendships that she created. She has left her mark with everyone in its own unique way. Her favorite quote was "Why worry when you can pray". We will continue to remember her through her acts of kindness, by sharing her stories and memories, and most importantly by living our lives in a way that reflects her values and the love she shared.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
