Obituary For Sara Moss

Sara L. Moss Ms. Sarah Lucinda Brown Moss entered eternal rest on September 23, 2016 at Woodmont Nursing Home in Fredericksburg, VA. Mrs. Moss was born on April 24, 1936 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Mr. Ruley and Mrs. Gertrude Dawkins Brown. She was the widow of Sherman L. Moss. Ms. Sarah graduated from Carver High School, Class of 1955. Mrs. Moss was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. where she served on various committees. Prior to relocating Sarah was a member of Thompson Street Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Cafritz Apartments Tenant Association. Ms. Sarah and Mr. Sherman Moss resided briefly in Dayton, OH before relocating to Washington, D.C. She began her food service career with the District of Columbia Public School System in September 1969, and worked in various schools in the area, spending most of her tenure at K. C. Lewis Elementary School. Mrs. Moss retired from a supervisory position in the D.C. Public School Systems in April 1992. Following her retirement she continued her work with students as a part time teacher's assistant, at a local daycare. Ms. Sarah had a compassionate heart and truly loved her family. Her siblings adored her and she adored them. She was so proud of her grandchildren and they brought a special joy to her life. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her son, Sherman A. (Deborah) Moss, Sr.; her grandchildren, Sherman, Jr. and Samaria; her two sisters, Robay Stroble and Ronay (Warren) Jackson; her brother, William Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends. Graveside Services for Ms. Sarah Lucinda Brown Moss will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC. Minister Jeffery King will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Ms. Robay Stroble, High St., Spartanburg, SC.
