Theresa Carson passed December 19, 2024.
My mom's obituary:
Theresa Ann (Ferguson) Carson affectionately known as "Red" was born on April 23, 1954 to Patria and Christopher Ferguson in Spartanburg, SC.
She attended Spartanburg County District 7 schools and was a portion of the first black students to integrate Spartanburg High School. She went on to become a proud class of 1972 SHS graduate. Theresa loved attending reunions and events held by her class.
During high school Theresa attended Daniel Morgan Vocational school for nursing. After graduating she went on to attend the Spartanburg General Hospital's School of Practical Nursing. Immediately after she began a career that would become 51 years of nursing. She worked in various departments at Spartanburg Regional for 35 years. Then she spent a year doing doctors' offices and occupational nursing facilities. For the last 15 years she has worked as a nurse contracted under Bon Secours at the GE plant in Greenville,SC. She was still actively working until her health began to decline.
Theresa had many passions. She loved music, fashionโespecially heels, grilled shrimp, good TV shows, cruising, and scrolling through social media. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, a loving friend, and a family member who adored spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Theresa's love for life was most evident when she danced, whether at family events, birthday parties, or when enjoying live music. Her vivacious spirit was contagious, and her energy filled every room.
Theresa was a faithful member of New Day Baptist Church, where she could be seen living out her childhood dream of being an usher. She was a member of the senior usher board and could be found on her post every 1st and 3rd Sunday.
Above all, Theresa cherished her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted wife until her husband's passing and was deeply connected to her children and grandchildren.
Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love and will be forever remembered by her two children: Schuyler Carson-Jackson (Reggie), Chris Carson (Kiara); her grandchildren: Cheyenne Jackson, Dallas Carson, and Kingston Carson; her brother: Joe Ferguson of Bloomfield, NJ; her loving step-sons who she considered to be her own: David Carson, Kent Mills, & Ralphael Durante; her Aunt: Barbara Tanner; her sisters and brother-in-love: Joann Fullenwinder, Sherry Smith, Christopher "Wayne" Carson, Virginia Brewton, Shonda Walker, Pollie Gentry, and Nefertiti Ferguson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her kid's friends who viewed her as a second mom. As well as her fur baby Benji.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Her husband: Clarence E. Carson, her sister: Julia Moore, her brothers: LeRoy Ferguson, Christopher Ferguson, and James Ferguson, her mother-in-love: Juanita Carson, brothers- in-love: Charles Carson and Willie Smith, step-grandchildren Cortez & Victoria Carson.
Theresa will forever be known as a sweet and beautiful spirit who was loved by everyone. An amazing woman, who lived life to the fullest. We will miss seeing her effortlessly and elegantly dance across the floor. We will miss her laugh, her hugs, and care. We will all remain grateful and cherish the many memories that God allowed us to share with her. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Condolences to the Family

Teresa knew me before I knew myself. Every since I've known her she was always a bright light and the life of the party! I never seen her without a smile on her face. When we were kids Teresa was always dancing and having a good time. I always wished I could dance like her. I know this is a sad time but, one thing I can say about Teresa she enjoyed her life and never missed a beat. I'm glad I got to know her and see such a beautiful spirit. Deepest sympathy to the family Ferguson and Carson families. Pastor Bessie L Black and family. (Former member of Majority Baptist church). Grace and peace
I first meet Theresa working at the main hospital, she was always so kind and sweet. She had a glowing personality, always smiling. I also had the pleasure of working with her at Occ Health. I was praying that was not her that had left us, but then yesterday, I saw that beautiful smile on this site. I pray for the family. I hope you know how much of a wonderful impact Theresa had on everyone she meets. I will miss seeing on at music on main. Life is so short, now is the time to draw close to our Heavenly Father and do the work Jesus instructed us to do."A good name* is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth."-Ecclesiastes 7:1 As we can see by the many wonderful comments, she made an impression with all those, she came in contact with. God's Holy word says we will live forever in paradise. Psalm 37:29; Revelation 21:3,4. Pray for comfort, Doris Jones
