Trevarius "Tre" Bowman
Trevarius “Tre” Bowman passed away May 19, 2020 in Bagram, Afghanistan. "Tre" was born December 16, 1994 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of Robert “Wayne” Bowman and Birtha “Michelle” (Paul) Foster.
Although only 25 at the time of his death, "Tre" affected many people in his lifetime.
In addition to his parents he is survived by: his brother, Denico Thompson of Spartanburg, SC; his sister, Kierra Bowman of Columbia, SC; his maternal grandfather, George Thompson of Chesnee, SC; his two nephews, Khilan Thompson of Gaffney, SC and Rashad Thompson of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.
"Tre" lived in Spartanburg all of his life. He was active in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (JROTC) at Paul M. Dorman High School, serving as Battalion Executive Officer before graduating in 2013. "Tre" continued to fulfill his military passion with Wofford Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) as he matriculated through University of South Carolina Upstate obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Information Management Systems.
He was employed by the University of South Carolina Palmetto College as the Admissions Operations IT Specialist. He was employed with The United States Postal Service.
Following the completion of his studies, "Tre" commissioned into the South Carolina National Guard, Company B, 198th Signal Battalion located in Newberry, SC and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT). As the Expeditionary Network Enterprise Center Officer in Charge, Platoon Leader, and Unit Movement Officer, "Tre" displayed the highest degree of professionalism, technical expertise, and commitment to mission accomplishment.
1st LT "Tre" Bowman’s awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the South Carolina Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the South Carolina Palmetto Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
"Tre" was a devoted Masonic member of the Stewart Lee Lodge #367 of Wellford, SC.
1st LT "Tre" Bowman was loved and admired by many people outside of his family and influenced many lives. "Tre" was an inspiration and a charismatic leader throughout his life story. He helped many individuals get through their personal challenges through his demonstrated leadership skills and confidence.
A Celebration of the Life of Trevarius “Tre” Bowman will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the USC Upstate Soccer Fields, 800 University Way, Spartanburg, SC. Interment will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC.
1st LT "Tre" Bowman will lie in state on Thursday, June 4, 2020 and Friday. June 5, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
