Tyrek Kordell Jefferies 27 entered eternal rest on June
5, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He
was born on February 10, 1997, to Nancy Elaine
Jefferies and James Anthony Fernanders.
Tyrek graduated from Spartanburg High School, Class
of 2015. He worked for Wendy’s in Columbus, North
Carolina.
Tyrek had an infectious smile that would light up a
room and a kind heart to all that encountered him. He
was always driven by the latest fashion and loved
exploring new trend ideas that would require his mother critiquing what he wore by being dressed “casket sharp”. He had a profound love for football and admired the New York Jets as his favorite team. He was a family oriented young man who cherished every moment spent with his family. He loved playing on his PlayStation 4 and spending time with his dog, Yak. Tyrek left a lasting impact on everyone he met; whether it was his family, friends, or co-workers, he loved life and always supported family.
Left to cherish his fond memories are: his mother,
Nancy Elaine Jefferies; his father, James A. Fernanders; his fiancé, Jakeria McNeil with son who will be born July 3,2024; his brothers, Ervin Terrell Jefferies (Noni) of Spartanburg, SC, and Tyson Fernanders (Shannon) of Spartanburg, SC; his sisters, Janotta Fernanders of Tampa Bay, Fl; special sisters, Erica Janay Jefferies of Spartanburg, SC, and Tracy Nesbitt (Larry) of Campobello, SC; his grandmother, Peggy Fernanders of Spartanburg, SC; aunt, Mildred Askew (Ivan) of Highland, CA; Godmother, Daisy” Miss Mama” Nash; God sisters, Mika Nash Smith (Terrell), and Carika Nash; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, many special cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Willie
Fernanders, aunt Kimberly Fernanders, Suzanne
“Grandma” Wofford, and his brother JaJuan A.
Fernanders.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, Roebuck, SC.
It's been 1 year since you left your family. Not 1 day goes by that you are not thought of! Your legacy still lives on in your son, Tyrek, Jr.! We love you then, now and forever! Until we meet again! I love you! 💙🕊️
Tyrek, I have watched you grow into a handsome young man these past 27 years. But today, our family will lay you to rest. This will be one of the hardest times in our lives. God called your name and you answered. He didn't leave us without something, he Blessed us with your seed, Tyrek, Jr. and all 27 years of memories of you! We can never replace you, but just know that Tyrek, Jr., will know his daddy because we will continually carry on your memories! You are already missed beyond all measures! This all seems so unreal and so unfair, but we know our God makes no mistakes. Continue to watch over our family, especially your mom. She loves and misses you so much! Our family chain is broken and things won't be the same, but as God calls us 1 by 1, our chain will link again! We love you Tyrek! Until we meet again!
