William Starling Smith Lindsay "Pep" was born on May 26, 1943. He departed this life on May 13, 2021. Mr. Lindsay was the son of the late Genobia Lindsey and David E. Smith, Sr..
William graduated from Carver High School, Class of 1962. He was drafted into the US Army. Mr. Lindsay was a proud veteran and received a Purple Heart. William resided in Washington, DC after his military service for many years before returning to Spartanburg, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Joseph N.Smith.
Those left to cherish loving memories are: three sons, William Westray of Haggartown, MD, Sean B. Gray (Michelle) of Clinton, MD, Lamar Smith of NC; two daughters, Romona Smith of Washington, DC and Tiffany Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Whitney H. Smith (Barbara) and David E. Smith, Jr. of (Marilyn) of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Dorothy S. Johnson (Albert) of Temple Hill, MD and Paulette Smith-Young of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren; Cierra Cotton of Houston, TX, Christian Williams of Washington, DC, Sean Markell Gray and Monchelle Gray of Clinton, MD; one stepsister, Etrulia Rucker (Newton) of Anderson, SC; two aunts, Mary E. Sands of Washington, DC and Delores Lindsay of College Park, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of the life of William Starling Smith Lindsay "Pep" will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial with Military Rites will be held in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Drayton, SC. Bishop Charles J.J.Jackson, III will officiate. Live Stream services will be available on Facebook on the TEEFERGUSONREPORT.
