Wilma Means Thomas was born on March 2, 1925 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Rosanna and Benjamin Means, Sr. Mrs. Thomas went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2015. Wilma retired from Arrow Auto Industries. She was a devoted member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where she served faithfully on The Mother’s Board, The Young at Heart and the Shepherds Staff Ministries and the Thompson Street Sympathy Club. Left to cherish her precious memories are: her three daughters, Ernestine Fuller of Moore, SC, Carolyn (Johnny) Byrd of the home and Phoebe (Alfred) Meadors of Roebuck, SC; her son, Rufus Thomas of Spartanburg, SC; her two god children, Willie (Rita) Littlejohn of Raeford, NC and Carrie Littlejohn of Spartanburg, SC; her fourteen grandchildren; her thirty-eight great grandchildren; her nephew, Benjamin Means, III; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Means; her two nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her son, James Thomas; her two brothers, Edward Means and Benjamin Means, II; and her sister, Tecora Means. A Celebration of the Life of Wilma Means Thomas will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 S Converse St., Spartanburg, SC. Bishop Charles J.J. Jackson, III will officiate. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC.
