Obituary For Emma Mitchell
Emma Elizabeth Mitchell, at the age of 88, gently departed from this world in the comfort of her home in Irvin, Kentucky, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Great Crossing, KY, on May 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James Young Sr. and Elizabeth Lewis Young.
Emma was a loving mother to Teresa Gordon, Ann Marie Wilson, Howard Bradshaw Jr., Terry Lee Bradshaw, Dontay Mitchell, and
Kenny Mitchell.
Her memory is cherished and she is lovingly survived by her children and her dear siblings: Dorothy (James) Lyvers, Maggie Green, Ella Miller, Pearlena Holt, Delores (Pedro) Roution, Jacob Young, and Thomas Young.
Apart from her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her beloved children Charlene Ball, Tony Bradshaw, and Carolyn Bradshaw, as well as her siblings Lily Mae Beatty, Mattie Collins, and James Young Jr.
With a life grounded in kindness and love, Emma touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.
Her gentle spirit remains with us through her family, forever cherished in our memories.

Ms Emma. I can't believe you are gone. You were a part of my village when it came to my babies. You constantly kept Whitney for me when life was tough. My kiddos were just devastated to see this obit. It was like losing a granny for them. We all know that you are in heaven watching over us now. We love you endlessly. Rhonda, Nancy, Whitney, and Gabe.
My favorite thing was coming down every weekend with Nana (Charlene Ball) and spending the night and going to all the thrift stores and having coffee with them in the morning before church. I also will miss her trying to convince me to leave one of my babies with her cause she'd take care of them. I know she would have been the best to them just like she always was to me.
