Amber Nicole Mays was born on January 12, 1993, in Augusta, Georgia to George Mays and Brenda Lewis Jackson. Amber was affectionately called, “Scooter,” by her family and friends. Amber was educated in the Richmond County Public School System. Amber was a proud 2011 graduate of Lucy Craft Laney Comprehensive High school. Amber was highly active and involved during her tenure at Laney. She participated in several clubs, organizations, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Amber was a member of the track team, Laney Pearls, Jobs for Georgia Graduates, and the Pride of Augusta marching band. Amber attended Cutno Dance Company during the ages of four through twelve. Finally, Amber received her Culinary Diploma from Helm’s College in 2021. Amber loved to dress, dance, and cook!
Amber was baptized at a very early age at McElmurray Spring Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles Utley.
Amber leaves to cherish her loving memory: three beautiful babies, Prince Antwoine Dontrell Johnson, Jr., Prince Khalib Ali Patterson, and Lil Princess Khamil Avah Patterson; two loving and understanding parents, Brenda (Lawrence) Jackson and George H. Mays, Jr.; two sisters, CPT Ashley C. Sandford and Jayda Mays; one brother, Aundrasen L. Spearman; one caring maternal grandmother, Wilhelmina J. Lewis; one aunt, Jennifer Mays Wilson; one uncle, Richard Lewis, Jr.; four great aunts, Sharon Turner, Lucille Givens, Bertha Lewis, and Elease Johnson; four great uncles, Joseph Jones, Freddie Jones, and Dallas Johnson , Garfield Lewis; one great-great aunt, Katie Oglesby; two God children, Zyhiann Terrell and Junashia Byrdsell; three very special cousins, Lorell (BeBe) Johnson, Jakari Lewis, and Brian D. Long, Jr.; one extended aunt, Lille O’Bannon; two extended sisters, Shantel (Nikki) Harris and Tanzir Jackson; one extended brother, Kendrick Harris; two best friends, Zakiyah (Keke) Cook and Te’Mora (TeTe) Smith; a special friend, Keshonn A. Patterson; Godfather, Steve Frails; Godmother, Regina Johnson; and a host of cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA, with Rev. Patrick N. Outler officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.
