Mrs. Annie Lizzie Johnson (née Addie Elizabeth Bullock), age 91, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia.
Born on May 21, 1934, in McDuffie County, Georgia, to parents Bennie Bullock Sr. and Dahlia Culbreth, Annie was a lifelong resident of her beloved home state. Her life was marked by deep faith, enduring love for her family, and steadfast service to her Church and Community.
Annie was a devoted member of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her active participation in the church’s Deaconess Board and Missionary Board. She also lent her voice to the Mass Choir, where she found joy and fellowship in worship through song.
She was preceded in death by four beloved children: Ollie Mae Hammond, Janice Hammond, Donny L. Hammond Sr., and William M. Hammond Jr
Family was at the heart of Annie’s life. She is survived by her children: four sons—Bruce O. Hammond of Augusta, GA; Phillip A. Hammond of Augusta, GA; James U. Hammond of Milwaukee, WI; and Tony Howard of Augusta, GA—and three daughters—Mary A. Wells of Augusta, GA; Vanessa Dacayanan Golay of Fort Worth, TX; and Maureen (Trevor) Wilson of Augusta, GA. She also leaves behind one sister, Cora Kelly; two brothers, George Bullock and Eugene Bullock; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Annie’s legacy is one of strength and devotion—to her faith, to her family, and to the many lives she touched throughout her 91 years.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Service will be held on August 29, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1692 Old Savannah Road, Augusta, Georgia.
Interment will be at Southview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday August 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
