It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Holmes-Hampton, who peacefully transitioned from this life on October 21, 2025.

She has two other siblings by marriage via Leslie Holmes and Bonnie Holmes -- Darryl Holmes and Byron Holmes.
Barbara's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of St. Buelah Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama, and gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her unwavering devotion and spiritual strength served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Coppinville High School in Enterprise, Alabama, Barbara continued her education at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, New York, and further pursued her theological studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Driven by a passion for helping others, Barbara built a rewarding career as a behavioral therapist. In 2000, she founded Hampton and Associates, where her compassion and expertise positively impacted many lives. Her dedication and service earned her the honor of being named Woman of the Year by the Metro Atlanta Concerned Black Clergy in 2013.
She culminated her professional and spiritual journey serving as the Director of Resources at Greater Young Zion Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, providing dedicated leadership and unwavering commitment to her community.
Barbara was a loving mother to her two children, Maria (Derrick) Drew and Kimberly Hampton and a devoted wife to David Hampton. She was also a proud grandmother to three grandchildren -- Zori Drew, Zoe Drew, and Zulymon Drew -- whose lives she profoundly enriched with her love, wisdom, and grace.
Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who cherish her memory and honor her life.

To the family of my friend, Faye. I'm so sorry for your loss. Faye was a friend from Coppinville High in Enterprise, Ala. I loved her humor and her sharp wit. She was always for doing the right thing. We missed your viciousness at the school reunion this year and will from now on. This is not goodbye my friend but until we meet again. Rest now, your work here is done. May OUR FATHER cover the family with HIS PEACE, LOVE and comfort.
My deepest condolences to the family, I am a FB friend and because of Ministry is why we enter a friendship. I highly respected and admired her humor, caring and loving personality displayed through her post. I can only imagine your pain for your loss. However, you know she's with her King sitting in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. You all are in my prayers.βοΈππΌπ
Sorry for your loss
It's with my deepest sympathies I offer my condolences to the Holmes/Hampton family. I referred to her as Ma. She was a caring and loving mother. Who loved helping people. I'm very grateful to have known her. As well as thankful to know her as Ma. God bless you. Thank you and you will be truly missed.
I knew Ms. Barbara through her daughter. I'm deeply heartbroken to hear about her death. She was a wonderful and caring woman who always made me feel welcome. Over the years I had the chance to get to know Ms Barbara not just because of her family but because of who she was individually. She was a community worker who wanted to make the world a little bit better. I offer my condolences to the extended family as well as to her daughters and their families. Patricia
My deepest condolences to the family of my beloved sister in Christ, Sis. Barbara. May you know and experience the strength and comfort that only our Heavenly Father, can give you now and in the days to come, as you embark upon your journey without her physical presence. A shared memory: I will cherish and remember Sis. Dr. Barbara Hampton as a woman of beauty, elegance, excellence, sophistication and gracefulness. Not to mention those beautiful hats and head piecesπ But more than that, I will remember the Godfidence that she exhibited in her ministry. Respectfully and lovingly, Vanessa C.
