Brenda Jefferson-Smith was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 4, 1948. She was the daughter of the late James and Channie Jefferson. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Jefferson Jr., and two aunts, Cornelia Davis and Christine Leonard. Early in life, she accepted Christ as her personal savoir and during her adult years converted to Catholic.
She is a graduate of Armstrong High School Class of 1966, then one of two prominent all-black schools in Richmond, Virginia.
After a long and hard struggle with an almost incurable illness, God knew that Brenda had suffered enough and gently closed his strong arms of protection around her calling his child home to rest. Even though she leaves family and friends to mourn her, they can take comfort in knowing that Brenda is happy and suffering no more in God’s home.
Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters: Tonya Jefferson-Clemons (Dwayne) from Grovetown, Ga, and Jasmine C. Smith from Richmond, Va: two sons Daryl A. Jefferson and Darrell M. Jefferson of Richmond, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Jerrell Jefferson, Tre Torbert, Darsha Taylor, Devin Jefferson, Ayana Jefferson, Channie Jefferson, and Cameron Jefferson, and three great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
She enjoyed her family, friends, old school music, concerts, being direct without chasers, and her hobbies, which included softball, bowling, football on Sunday, and making her delicious rolls, fried chicken, and liver.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Kinsey & Walton Chapel, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
