Brenda, affectionately known to many as “Gail” was born to the late Alfred and the late Ariedell (Olive) Germany on August 28, 1947. She was a lifelong resident of Harlem GA and became a member of New Holt Baptist Church at a young age. She later moved her membership to Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and was a coordinator for the children’s ministry.
Brenda graduated from Columbia County Schools and then attended Voorhees College where she received her undergraduate degree. She received her specialist degree from Augusta College and her masters degree from the University of Georgia. She worked in the Columbia County School System for 41 years, most of which she served as principal at Westmont and Brookwood Elementary Schools where she made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of children. Her leadership and commitment to education earned her the privilege of having the Brookwood Elementary School library named in her honor upon retirement.
She was married to H. Jerome Jones for over 51 years and to this union two daughters were born, Tamara and Valerie. Spending time with her family was her most precious pastime. She invested heavily in her daughters’ futures through education and the arts and as an unwavering supporter of their dreams and success. Reading books, having tea parties and sleepovers, attending their games and school events, watching movies, playing games and making crafts created magical memories with her grandchildren that will last a lifetime.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ariedell Germany.
She is survived by her husband Jerome; daughters Tamara (Michael) Mixon and Valerie (Sharard) Pritchett; and her brother Anthony (Ann) Germany. Her legacy will live on through her five grandchildren, Morgan and Taylor Mixon and Skylar, Sheldon, and Saige Pritchett. She also leaves behind brothers in law Darryl Jones and Kelvin Jones; sisters in law Edwina Crump, Jennie Mae Simmons, Shireen (Ricardo) Jones, Louise (Roderick) Jones, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
As we celebrate her life, we not only remember her achievements, but her dedication and passion for educating children, the boundless love she had for her family and friends, and the tremendous impact she had on so many. Though she will be missed, may her imprint and legacy live on in hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Road, Evans, Ga. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm.

My deepest condolences to the Jones & Germany family my prayer is that God will strengthen and comfort you all during this time and days to come .🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Sending my condolences and prayers of strength to the Jones family. Mrs. Jones was my very first principal at Brookwood Elementary. I can still see her walking the halls and greeting students. That was 30 plus years ago but she was very hands on and a great influence to me. Rest well Mrs. Jones.
I had the honor of working for and with Ms. Jones. She made me the teacher that I am today. I have fond memories of sitting with her in her office and just laughing. She loved her teachers and the students as if they were her own. She will be greatly missed but is with the Lord now, watching over us!
Sending love and condolences to the family. May God provide strength during this time

I taught under Mrs.Jones at Brookwood and she became like a second mother to me. She was such a caring and patient leader. She impacted so many students and educators in her time at BWE. She will always shine her light down on us.
I worked with Brenda at Grovetown Elementary many years ago. She always had a smile on her face and was a loving and caring lady. She will be missed. Heaven gained such a beautiful angel. Prayers for her family. Love, Linda and Johnny Smith and The Bateson Family
Our thoughts & prayers are with all the family & friends.. I worked at Brookwood Elementary while Brenda was principal since 1995 until her retirement & I retired in 2015. Both of our sons, Paul & Travis, went to BWE.
Brenda, was my principal for 17 years. I taught Tamara and Valerie in PE. She was an encourager and listener. I'm thankful for her leadership and friendship. Proverbs 10:7a and Psalm 56:8
