Mrs. Ethel A. King, daughter of the late Edward W. Ford and Lenora Primus Ford was called from labor to reward, Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Ethel was a diligent Civil Rights activist in the 1960s, a member of the local NAACP, served as secretary alongside Mr. W.W. Law, President of the Savannah Chapter. She was also a member of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) where she marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ralph Abernathy.
She was proceeded in death by her grandson, Sanford Hawkins, siblings, Robert Ford, Ruth Blyler, James L. Ford, Elmus Harris and Judson Ford.
Ethel loved life, of all the things she loved in life, she loved her children most. Her memories will be cherished by her five children;George (Tonya) Lee, Lorraine (Frederick) Beavers, Ronald B. Lee, Rosalyn (Frank) Clark and Wilfred King; grandchildren, Santell Hawkins, Mariah Tate, Wilfred King “Lil Will”, Chantel King, and Treasure Lee; great-grands, Saniya O'Bannard, Shariah Tate; great-great grands, Sy'Myra and Keon Lewis; brothers, Edward (Doris) Ford, Frederick (Patricia) Ford, Nelson Ford; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
Funeral service will be 12 noon, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Philip AME Church, 613 Martin Luther King Blvd., Savannah, GA. Public viewing an hour before the service.
