Hattie Florance Gay was born on December 4, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1959, she met the love of her life and became Mrs. Hattie Baxter four years later.

Hattie’s love of music and writing became the cornerstone of her legacy—one that lives on through her children and grandchildren. Hattie transitioned peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and is survived by her devoted husband, three of her five children, eleven grandchildren, a sister, brother, and a host of loved ones and friends.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Friday, October 31, 2025, in Westover Memorial Park, 2601-Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA.
