Our beloved mother, Jessie Bell Griffin entered into rest Wednesday, August 14, 2024. She preceded in death her mother and father Louis Meriweather and Mary B. Briggs, sister Mary Ann Burgess and son Berniord Thomas.
She was born and raised in McBean, Georgia, graduating from Hamilton Academy High School in Burke County.
Jessie was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord; and was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church for twenty plus years.
Jessie was blessed to be united in holy matrimony to the late Charlie W. Griffin Jr. spanning forty โthree years.
She worked several years as a librarian for Paine College; however, her passion was to provide a safe and healthy environment for the children of family and friends. She created and managed a day care center covering a period of 15 to 20 yearsโฆ. loving every moment.
Jessie leaves behind the following children: Kim Jackson (Harry), Zendea Harmon, Charlie Griffin (Dorothy), and Karren Herrington (Markus). In addition an aunt, Frances Kelly; two brothers, Sylvester Briggs, Howard Briggs; two Sisters Debra and Soretta Briggs; and her bestie Barbara Jean Williams. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Kinsey & Walton Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Public viewing from 2pm to 6 pm at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
