Obituary For Rickey D. Rountree

MR. RICKEY DEAN ROUNTREE of Hephzibah, Georgia, was born April 28, 1965, to Cora L. Redfield in Augusta, Georgia. He entered into rest at his home on Hallman Drive, Hephzibah, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

As a child and into adulthood, he attended Pine Hill Baptist Church and the Gracewood Chapel on the campus at Gracewood in Augusta, Georgia. Rickey served as a Minister and a member of the choir. He loved to help with the service on Thursdays and Sundays when needed, with help from the Chaplain at Gracewood.

Rickey loved his job. He worked in the Laundry Room, folding clothes at Gracewood, until his health wouldn't allow him.

It was a must for Rickey to dress up on every Thursday and Sunday. He would dress in his long shirt, necktie, dress pants, and shoes! He would listen to his gospel music and TV gospel programs all day on Sunday. That was his way of worshipping. Rickey always looked forward to Sunday, and he would say

"Sunday is God's day.

Rickey's famous quote: "Alright now, don't let me tell Jesus on you!"

Rickey began his education with the Burke County School System. When he became disabled, Rickey was transferred to Gracewood for a better understanding and learning.

Rickey was so LOVED and cared for by his Grandparents the late Mamie and Willie Rountree; the late Aunt Lois Davis; and the late cousin Wilbert Dukes.

He leaves to mourn: His Mother Cora Redfield, and Stepfather Marion Redfield of Waynesboro, GA; Brother Donnell (Tyiese) Redfield of Augusta, GA; Nephew Marquez Redfield and Grand Nephew Logan Redfield of Augusta, GA; Aunt Essie Roundtree of Fort Lauderdale, FL; devoted cousins Mamie and Donald Burke of Augusta, GA.; caregiver Brenda Vernon of Hephzibah, Ga, and a host of relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:30pm, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Pine Hill Baptist Church, 859 Pine Hill Church Road, Waynesboro, GA 30830. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Church Cemetery.

The remains will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
