Mr. Roy William Gibbons Sr. was born on September 9, 1952, in Louisville, GA to the late Carrie and Richard Gibbons. He entered into rest on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
Roy attended Lucy C. Laney High School. He worked at MCG as a grounds man and a truck driver for 30 years, he was also a carpenter by trade, until his health failed.
Roy was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He loved his old school music and westerns. He enjoyed fishing with his son and grandchildren. In his spare time he worked on cars with his son, Roy Jr. He enjoyed cooking and grilling and a good card game.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 46 years, Jessie Gibbons; daughters, Jennifer Gibbons and Jessica Gibbons; sons, Rodriguez Gibbons, Dexter OβBryant, Roy Jr. (Davida) Gibbons, Nicholas (Kimberly) Gibbons; brothers, George (JR) Gibbons, GA; Benjamin Gibbons and bonus brother, Willie (Cynthia) Burton; sisters, Joanne (Bernard) Raines: Bobbie (Oliver) Moss; Rebie (Eric) Billups, Shirley Gibbons, devoted niece, Sheila (Dyese) Golphin, twenty-two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Kinsey & Walton Chapel, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
