Samuel Aldwin Ried, of Harlem, Ga., passed Thursday, June 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Sam was born July 30, 1943, in Augusta, Ga., to the late Samuel and Amelia Reid. He was the fifth of six children.
Sam married the love of his life, Linda, July 4, 1966. Together they welcomed two sons, Sam (Tricia) and Joe (Crystal). Sam retired from Austin Industries at DSM as a Millwright.
On April 21, 1974, Sam became a baptized member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witness and remained so throughout his life. He shared his faith and love of his Heavenly Father to all he met.
Big Sam was an avid Nascar and Georgia Bulldog Fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His children and grandchildren loved hearing stories from his life. Most mornings he could be found at the Huddle House and afternoons on the porch or riding the little people (great grands) on the golf cart.
Big Sam (Pop-pop) is survived by his sons; grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Shannon, Tyler, Garrett, Morgan, Cameron, Lily, Ryan, Justin and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Chasity, Wyatt, Braelyn, Carter, Emma Claire, Henley, Hannah, Emory, Colson, Liam, Skylar, and Gracie and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be 5:30 pm, Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Grovetown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5587 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA. 30813.

Dear Sam & Joe my condolences to you and the family, i was sadden to hear the news the day before the service , my mom told me because she knew how close were were, do you remember the trips to the airport following the good year blimp as it passed over us ? and the many late night conversation with your mom and dad, and the Baptism in your back yard , i was 17 then, that was exactly 50 years ago as i will be 67 this July 30th,( I share your dads birthday lol), I have thoughts and many good memories of you guys over the years, it was good to see the many new ones in the family I have yet to meet, and Sam looks exactly the same , I never knew so many accolades about him, thats a humble man. i'm deeply sorry for your loss and may the resurrection hope soften the blow of the sting of death,
