Shirley M. Lindsey was born in Adams County, Natchez, Mississippi, on August 17, 1941, the daughter of Johnney Jackson and Lettie Scott. She was a strong woman of God and a loving, caring mother, dedicated to her family. She was known for her wit, wisdom, caring heart, and smile.
She was educated in the Adams County Public School System. Throughout her life, she worked in various customer service jobs, retiring after moving to Martinez, GA, following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
A woman of great faith, she attended New Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA, for nearly 40 years. After Katrina, she relocated to Martinez, GA, where she became a member of Greater Young Zion.
She entered into rest peacefully on October 18, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, three siblings, and the love of her life, Joe E. Lindsey. She will be greatly missed by her children, family, and friends.
A memorial service will be 2 pm, Friday, October 25, 2024, at Greater Young Zion Baptist Church, 405 Sand Bar Ferry Rd., Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to one of her favorite charities: Save the Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ms. Shirley would always call and check on me every so off. I was very ill at one time and she started calling and checking me. Praying for the family. Ann Patterson
