Obituary For Sylvia Rena Collins
Mrs. Sylvia Rena Gibson Collins was born on May 23, 1956, in Thomson, GA to the late James and Frances Gibson, Sr. On May 28, 2026, she departed this earth to be with her Heavenly Father.
On June 25, 1976, she married the love of her life, Lorenzo Collins. This union produced two children, a son and a daughter. She rededicated her life and became a member of New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she proudly served as a missionary for many years. She loved to cook and always provided meals for her church members, family and friends.
She was caring and thoughtful and would give her last to anyone. She took pride in how she presented herself to the world and was a connoisseur of perfume and fragrances. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and gave much of her life caring for and helping others. She loved her family unconditionally and provided genuine love to them every day of her life.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her siblings; Mary E. Gibson, Marion Gibson and Linda Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Lorenzo Collins of Augusta, GA; son and daughter Recoe Lamont Collins of North Las Vegas, NV and Yanza Recole Collins of Martinez, GA; 9 brothers and sisters, Betty (Kenneth) Brinson, James (Pearl) Gibson, Vickie Gibson, Tonya Durham, Greg (Querida) Gibson, Mark Gibson, Deborah (Steve) Berry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Kinsey & Walton Chapel. Public viewing will be an hour before the service (ONLY). Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens.
