Obituary For Tomasa Johnson
Tomasa Johnson was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, before establishing her family and legacy in Augusta, Georgia. A devoted mother to Omaida, Angel, Danny and Monique, she was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a beloved hair salon and nail spa.
Tomasa later married the love of her life, Emmitt Johnson and together they shared years of travel, laughter, joy and service to others. For more than a decade, she operated a community food bank that never turned away anyone in need.
Fiercely devoted to family, Tomasa cared deeply for every generation, including her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, resilience, warmth, and the lasting love she gave so freely to family, friends and her community.
Memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Friday, July 3, 2026, at Kinsey & Walton Chapel, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858

Maida, I am praying for peace, love, and strength for you and the family during this and every moment Mrs. Johnson crosses your mind and heart. Your mother always treated me like a part of the family. Her laugh and smile was contagious. In her presence you could feel the strong love of family that surrounded her. Thank you for allowing me to meet an amazingly loving, strong, and beautiful woman. She will be sorely missed. I pray that you find peace in knowing the she built a great and beautiful legacy that will carried on through the amazing family that she raised.
