Esther Alice Davis, died peacefully at home in Las Cruces, NM, surrounded by family on January 11, 2024, a month after her 93rd birthday.
Alice is survived by 4 daughters: Sheryl June Verdugo and husband Margarito of Las Cruces, Nora Hopper of Las Cruces, Margaret Miranda and husband John of Truth or Consequences, Ida Sumpter and husband Frank of Lamesa, TX; 10 grandchildren: Lonjina, Adrian, Lauren, Daniel, Sheila, Tiffany, Shelly, Frank Jr., Casey and Brandon Hite, of Big Springs TX; and 16 great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Roy Hite, Herold Wray, and Bill Davis; her daughter, Linda Hite Beasley; and granddaughter, Brenda Beasley.
Born on December 5, 1930, in Gillette, Wyoming, Alice was raised on a farm alongside her wonderful 12 siblings: Charles, Jim, Gene, Helen Ruth, Carol, Dorothy, Millie, Elsie, Joyce, Ray and Tom. She married Roy Hite in Wyoming, and together they joyfully welcomed five beautiful daughters. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Roy lost his life in a work accident. Seeking a fresh start, Alice courageously relocated her young girls to Truth or Consequences, NM, where she lovingly raised them with faith and assistance from the Lord.
Alice's children cherish the memory of their remarkable mother—a beautifully independent woman of unwavering faith who gracefully navigated life's challenges. Her deep connection with God led her to join her friends at church every Sunday, and she remained a devoted member of the Light House Church of God in T or C, NM, for many years, serving some as interim pastor. Alice found joy in word searches and reading books including her bible and she welcomed anyone to share in the delight of puzzle-solving. Those fortunate enough received unique, lovingly hand-stitched embroidered art pieces—a testament to Alice's thoughtful and creative spirit. One Bible verse she always quoted was “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. II Corinthians 5:8

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Kirikos Family Funeral Home in Truth or Consequences, NM. Alice will be laid to rest at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery following.
I just now saw Alice's Obituary, I am so sorry she is not with us, but am glad she is with our Heavenly father. I met her through my work, and she gave me strength just from seeing her take care of herself all around town. She was very wise, kind, and strong in her faith. THANK YOU ALICE FOR BEING MY ROLE MODEL I WILL MISS YOU! Love and many prayers to the family. Pamela Gurule from the bank.
It was an honor and privilege to have spent time playing "marbles" with her and my in-laws the Sumpters. I immediately felt her love and acceptance to the family. Thank you God for allowing me this time with her. Much love Grandma Alice...RIP... love Rosie Sumpter
