Obituary For Antonia Armijo

Toni, born Antonia Valeria Widerski, passed away February 18, 2024, in her home in Truth or Consequences, NM. She was born on November 11, 1952 in El Monte, California where she was raised. As a teenage girl, she was tall, stunningly beautiful, smart, and funny. And like many young girls, did not see herself as so. At the age of 15, she met Levi Armijo, who was drawn to her piercing eyes and long flowing brown hair. He put on the charm, with his boyish good looks and contagious smile. Little did they know it was the beginning of a lifelong relationship. Toni and Levi had two daughters together, Andrea and Leanne. Toni was a great cook! She made the best potato salad and chile rellenos EVER! Who are we kidding, everything she made was wonderful!! Anything she wanted to make, she learned the basics and then perfected her own recipe for it. She loved reading for hours on end, lost in imagination, with a dog always close by. When she had a pet, she had them for life. And there were many over the years. She lost her father in her late twenties, and her mother in her early 30’s, the two people she felt safe with. Marriage and life had its challenges, and they had more than their share of hardships. Levi was a Marine who survived the Vietnam War but was never the same afterwards. Toni, although never realizing just how strong she was, was the one who held her family together. Later in life, Toni suffered from several health issues, and chronic pain. So much so, it was debilitating. Yet through all the pain and suffering her body endured, she remained a loving, patient Mother and Grandma. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world, and even though she never realized just how strong, beautiful, and wonderful she was, her family knew!! Even though we will always deeply miss her, she is home and free at last. Toni was preceded in death by her husband, Levi G. Armijo; her parents, Joseph and Ann Widerski. She is survived by her daughters: Andrea Rene Armijo and Leanne F. Armijo; grandchildren: Raelene Marie, Andrew Joseph, and Adam Levi Bejarano. And of course, her sweet angel, Jovanni Renee Garcia; and great-grandchildren: Celeste, Gabriel, Amari, Cadence, Evelyn, Levi, and Cecilia. WE ALL LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
