It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Denise Martinez who left this world peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on November 4, 1964, in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, to Carmen Sostre and Edward Williamson. Denise Martinez grew up in Queens, New York, later following her family to live in New Mexico near her grandparents. Denise brought love, fun, and humor into the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love of her family, generosity to all in need, kind spirit and bright smile will be missed by all who know her.
A resident of Truth or Consequences for 35 years and a mother of four boys. Denise was passionate about teaching children. She ran the head start program for Tresco in the early 1990s. She later started and ran a head start program at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Teaching children was a highlight of her life. Denise later devoted a lot of her time healing and taking care of her mother.
Whether she was helping a friend or hanging out with family, Denise made every moment meaningful and definitely fun. Her presence was a light, her laughter was contagious, and her love a legacy that will live on in our hearts forever. She always had a smile and a laugh waiting, even when she was having a rough day. She always found a way to laugh. Denise was oh so very proud of her four sons and grandchildren. She often would talk about her boy's childhood mischief and we all would get a good laugh. She shined when she spoke about her boys and what good boys they had become.
