It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jennie M. Hogan, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 5, 2025, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. Her departure was one she faced with quiet patience, knowing she would be reunited with her lost love, Don Hogan, who passed in December 2008. Jennie was born on January 3, 1940, in Socorro, New Mexico, to Joe and Juanita Olguin, a humble and hardworking couple rooted in the ranching and farming community of San Marcial. The family later settled in Socorro, where they raised six children. Jennie is survived by her sisters: Fita Apodaca, Pauline Sanchez, and Loretta Tooley.
She met her husband, Donald Robert Hogan, while he was attending school at New Mexico Tech. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and deep family ties. Their bond was unwavering, and they raised three sons: Ron Hogan, the eldest; Sean Hogan; and Coleman Hogan, the youngest. Her family was her greatest joy, and wherever her home stood, it was always a place filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of New Mexican cooking. The Hogan family spent a memorable chapter abroad, living in Saudi Arabia until 1979. That experience broadened Jennie's perspective - embracing different cultures, raising a family overseas, and teaching her children about the world. Upon returning to the U.S., they resettled in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where Jennie planted deep roots and never looked back.
Jennie had a gentle yet spirited presence. She cherished simple pleasures: playing cards with friends, volunteering at church enchilada dinners, and sharing meals and stories with loved ones. Her generosity was quiet but unwavering. Whether offering a helping hand, a warm plate of beans and chile, or a listening ear, Jennie made others feel seen and loved.
She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren -granddaughters: Camille Hogan and Clea Hogan; and grandsons: Miles Hogan and Reed Hogan — each of whom brought her immense joy. She was also joyfully anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandson this coming August.
Jennie’s legacy is one of quiet strength, steady love, and enduring grace. She taught those around her the value of family, the beauty of kindness, and the importance of living fully—no matter where life leads. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Jennie’s honor on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church starting at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Williams officiating. Followed by a Celebration of Life Reception at Turtleback Mountain Golf Course & Resort.
Blessings to Jennie's family and friends. May your remembrances of her keep your hearts filled with her love.
Such a beautiful sole. All my love, Sandy
