Obituary For Jennie Olivas Baca

Jennie Olivas Baca, 85, a life-long resident of New Mexico, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 21, 1929 in Arrey, NM to Lucio and Rosita (Palion) Gutierrez. She worked many years for Carrie Tingley Children’s Hospital in Truth or Consequences, NM and in Albuquerque, NM before retiring. Jennie was an active member of the Basilica of San Albino in Mesilla, NM. Her interests included bowling in the senior Olympics, crocheting, and organizing and hosting women's prayer groups. She devoted much of her time to her children and grandchildren, as well as extended family. Jennie touched many lives with her unending love and generosity and will be greatly missed.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents Lucio and Rosita Gutierrez; her granddaughter, Monica Olivas; along with numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister, Helen G. Sedillo, of T. or C., NM; her sons - Robert Olivas and wife, June, of T. or C., Ruben Olivas and wife, Ida, of T. or C., Gary Nuanez, of Las Cruces, and Ralph Olivas and wife, Leah, of Carlsbad; her granddaughter, Stacy Rush and husband, Tyson; grandson, Bryan Olivas and wife, Katie; her great-grandchildren - Christian and Seth Coulter, Selena Montoya and Orlando Miyamoto, Ashtyn and Stetson Olivas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary Vigil will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Arrey, NM on Saturday August 16, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Don Hyatt, CSB. At her request cremation will follow and a private Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Jennie's Family The people we love live on in our hearts. It takes a long time to get used to the loss of someone we love, But it's important to remember that when people die, they leave something very special behind- They leave us memories of many things they said and did.
