Jimmie Worren Vance, 65, a resident of T. or C., died on Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born on August 6, 1958, in Oakland, CA to Jimmy Vance and Lillian Kitts.
Jimmie was known by many names, Jimmie Jams, Listener, Counselor, and Friend. Jimmie was one of the Coolest Cats you would ever know. He had a heart that was big and beautiful and full of Love, Kindness, and Joy for everyone who crossed his path. He was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a proud U.S. Navy veteran, but most of all Jimmie was Jimmie. He absolutely loved sitting in his chair and soaking up the sunshine. During his passing the sun was shining in his room on his face as he departed. It was the perfect way for Jimmie to continue his journey.
One of the most beautiful things about Jimmie was his unconditional giving heart. Everyone who knew Jimmie knew that you could tell him anything, give him awhile to think about your problem, and then he would give you his honest view of your situation. He was a very deep thinker and would give you the shirt off his back. He was there for anyone who needed to be seen or heard.
His love for Music was as bright and beautiful as his spirit. Jimmie Jams (as one friend would call him) played Pink Floyd as loud as he could in his car and home. If Jimmie was jamming, he made sure that you heard it. Jimmie had another love, Dr. Pepper. He was as devoted to Dr. Pepper as much as he was being your friend. Everyone knew that Dr. Pepper was his signature drink. If you close your eyes the vivid memory of Jimmie would be him sitting in his chair soaking up the sunshine with his glasses on, a Dr. Pepper in one hand and smiling. He loved his family and friends. Jimmie was a private guy and found peace in his living room with his Crossword Puzzle book, music, his thoughts, and a Dr. Pepper.
Jimmies spirit will continue in others as he was an organ doner. They told me that his heart was going to save a child in need, Jimmie would be happy to know that he could help someone. It brings us great joy that Jimmie’s beautiful spirit will continue, especially in a child.
