Joseph L. Bruno left this world peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2022. Born to Joseph and Helen Bruno on December 23, 1940 in Holland, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Lawrence and Helen Ann (Shashagway) Bruno, Sr.; his wife, Betty Bruno; and his granddaughter, Raynee Rutherford. He was survived by his daughter, Lisa Jenkins and her three daughters – Markee Taube, Kirsten Rutherford, and Kelsey Jenkins; his son, Joseph M. Bruno and his wife, Jani, and their three children – Joseph M. Bruno, Jr., Tasha Bruno, and Christine Bruno; daughter, Angela Beth Tanner, and her children – Ariana Tanner and Alana Swanson; six great-grandchildren – Cadence and Kayle Bowling, Tristan Stokes, Lauren Belle Bruno, Joslynn Taube, and Akierah Rutherford. He was a Vietnam war veteran and an Elder of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potowatomi of Native Americans. He was loved and well respected in the community, and amongst many friends and family. He came across Hillsboro in the mid 70’s and has resided in Sierra County on and off since then. Joe was full of life which he enjoyed immensely. He liked camping and playing his guitar, searching for hidden treasures, panning gold, and exploring new places. He was sunshine on a cloudy day and could make the best of any situation. Joe was loved and cherished by his family and friends and will be painstakingly missed by all. May God bless you and may you rest in peace eternally.
