Manuel “Sarge” Garcia Sanchez, 85, passed away on December 23, 2024, in Las Cruces, NM. Manuel was born on November 22, 1939, in Cuchillo, NM to Nerio Sanchez and Ofelia Garcia Sanchez.
Sarge was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard, having proudly served for over 30 years. He continued to serve his community throughout his life as a police officer with the Truth or Consequences Police Department, a certified diver, and a school board member. He also worked at the Naval Space Surveillance Station until his retirement in 2000.
Manuel enjoyed golfing and spending time on his farm, especially with his animals.
Sarge is survived by his sons: Manny Sanchez Jr. and his wife Lesliy, and Mark Sanchez and his wife Gina; grandchildren: Mandi Sanchez and Cody Sanchez; step-grandchildren: Fallon Kibler and Joseph Alexander; many great-grandchildren; and his sisters: Lugarda Lucero and Terry Landford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nerio and Ofelia Sanchez.
Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held per Manuel’s wishes.
