My cousin, Countee, was a man of tremendous knowledge on many subjects, but he was also very comical! He could tell you jokes with a straight face, never crack a smile, and I would be hysterically laughing! He was such a lovable family man, and I will miss him greatly! Heaven has a treasure in our Lord's trophy case in Countee Collins! Rest in Paradise my dear cousin!Love and miss you!LeeEtta Woods

Countee was a great man, he taught you to put your self in others shoes, to help you understand the mentality of others. He came from a poor family and he made sure he was the provider for the whole family. Everyone knew you could sit and talk to Countee on the porch at any moment. He would talk to Uncle Gene for hours on that porch.

I had the opportunity to meet Count and Cora. They are an amazing couple. And the Love that they share can not compare to anyone else's Love. We will meet again, I'm sure of it I love you. See you soon Mr. Countee, LaShondra Lowery

A famous German poet once said, "Do not cry because they are past! Smile, because they once were!" How true are these words for me when I think of Countee. I am forever grateful to have been a fellow co-worker and friend. My hope for his family is that they find comfort in the many memories and the promises to come.

My condolences to the collins family. We go back a long way count were there for me in the early 70's giving me ride back and forth to work at the hospital.
