Obituary For Inez D. Sands

Mrs. Inez Drones Sands, 85, died Wednesday February 9, 2022 at her residence in Prentiss, MS. Services for Mrs. Sands were held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Spring Hill M. B. Church in Silver Creek, with Pastor Roy Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sands was the daughter of the late Given “Lil Boy” Drones and Beulah Griffith Drones. Mrs. Sands was a faithful member of Green Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sands attended Clem School and worked many years at the bakery in Prentiss, MS. Mrs. Sands moved to Chicago, IL and worked at a laundromat. Mrs. Sands touched many lives, helped numerous people, and never turned her back on anyone or shut her door to anyone in need.

Mrs. Sands married Mr. Lovell Sands and to this union nine children were added. Mrs. Sands was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, children, daughter-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, and great granddaughter. Mrs. Sands leaves to cherish her memories son James “Pete” Sands; daughters Minnie Lean (Calvin) Sands, Minnie Doll (Calvin) Coleman and Lillie “Polly” Sands; four grandchildren she reared, Calvin “Scoot” Sands, Darrell Sands, Katherine Sands and Lydia Sands; brothers Willie Griffith and Joe “Mookie” Griffith; brother-in-law Tony Sands and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Inez D. Sands will be on Wednesday February 16, 2022 beginning at 11am at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation services for Ms. Inez Sands will be on Tuesday February 15, from 3-7pm at Laird Mortuary Chapel.
