Obituary For Mayetta Armstrong

Mayetta Warner-Armstrong, 81, died Wednesday April 6, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Services for Mrs. Armstrong were held Friday, April 15, 2022 at Spring Hill M. B. Church, with Pastor Roy Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Spring Hill M. B. Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.

Mrs. Armstrong was the daughter of the Late Jessie and Roberta Warner. Mrs. Armstrong joined Spring Hill M. B. Church at an early age and remained a member until her death. She served as a choir member, secretary and head cook. Mrs. Armstrong dedicated her life as form of service to others, by being a humble giver. Mrs. Armstrong’s home was open always for anyone who wanted a meal.

Mrs. Armstrong attended Oakley Elementary School and Prentiss Institute. Mrs. Armstrong was a teacher at Sophia Sutton Mission from 1968 to 1989 and a bus driver for Jefferson Davis County School System from 1990 until 2011.

Mrs. Armstrong married the late Robert Lee Armstrong.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Armstrong, son Rickey Lee Armstrong, grandson Billy Johnson, parents Jessie and Roberta Warner two sisters, and three brothers.

Mrs. Armstrong’s survivors include, daughters; Irene (Roy) Davis, Silver Creek, Carolyn Armstrong (Jason), Glendale, AZ, Latoya (Kevin) Bass, Prentiss, sons; Plez Armstrong (Brenda) Prentiss, two sisters; Kastella Warner, Ethalean Walters of Prentiss, mother-in-law; Lola Armstrong, New Hebron, one sister-in-law, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 nieces, 5 nephews, and a host of cousins, church members and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mayette Armstrong will be Friday April 15, 2022, at Spring Hill M. B. Church, beginning at 1pm. There will be a visitation from 11am-1pm at Springhill M. B. Church.

Visitations services for Mrs. Mayetta Armstrong will be Thursday April 14, 2022 from 1-7pm at Laird Mortuary Chapel.
