02/04/1958 - 05/04/2026
Ledell “Dell” Cooper was born on February 4, 1958, in Holmes County Mississippi to the late Catherine Cooper McLaurin and Judge Brandon. He was the second oldest of eight siblings. He departed this life to be with the Lord on may 4, 2026.
At an early age, Ledell accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Goodhope Missionary Church in Mileston, MS., under the leadership of Rev. Johnson. He later joined the Word of Righteous Church in Durant, MS., under the leadership of Pastor Cornelius Landfair.
Ledell received his education at Tchula Attendance Center in Tchula, MS. His professional life included factory, farm and construction work.
In 1988, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Clementine Jordan Cooper and to this union one child was born, Brandon “Coop” Cooper, who preceded him in death. He was also blessed with two bonus sons, Raymond and Pierre Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children: Equando Clay of Long Beach, MS; Ledell McDaniel(Johnesha); and Chadmond White, both of Belzoni, MS; along with eight brothers and sisters: Loretta Wilkes(Michael) of Tchula, MS; Henry Cooper(Rilla) of Yazoo City, MS; Lionel Cooper of Chicago, IL; Griffin McLaurin (Glenda) of Huntsville, AL; Gregory McLaurin (Shirley) of Greenwood, MS; Artimease McLaurin of Tchula, MS; Tyrone McLaurin(Betty, who preceded him in death) of Killeen, TX; and Cotrina Cunningham of Memphis, TN.
His legacy continues through his fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ledell loved his dogs, Sam and CoCo. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, grilling, playing cards and dancing. He was known as “the dancing machine” and was the life of any function. He will truly be missed and his memories will forever be etched in our hearts.
