Obituary For Queenie Common

Queenie Common, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 98. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a powerful legacy that will continue through the generations of her family and the communities she touched.
Queenie was born on June 22, 1928, to Louise Austin and Jim Pratt and adopted by Henry Common. Born and raised in Tchula, MS, Queene remained connected to the city she called home throughout her life. She was grounded in the enduring values of faith, family and hard work.
At the age of 18, Queenie moved to Chicago, IL where she built a vibrant life. She dedicated her professional career to public service working for the city of Chicago. Chicago was where she worked diligently, raised her family, and created lifelong bonds.
Later in life, driven by devotion and love for her family, Queenie moved back to Tchula to help care for her mother. Returning home to the community that always held a special place in her heart, she was warmly welcomed and continued to serve as a pillar of strength and comfort.
Family was at the heart of Queenie's life. She was a loving mother to Nariade Taylor-Jones (Hattiesburg, MS) and Phil Taylor (Tacoma, WA) and a cherished grandmother to Samantha Turnbull (Chicago, IL), and Jordan and Rachel Taylor (Tacoma, WA).
She is survived by her brother Robert Common and wife Iola Common (Chicago, IL) and brother Johnny Lee Common (Chicago, IL), her sisters Freda Pratt, Hazel Harty, and Irma Ferguson, extended Matthew family, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

My Deepest condolences ππ» my prayers goes out too y'all ππ» π’ I knew Queenie for a long time. Especially when I stayed in Tchula But my House burned π₯ down in 2015 I move to yazoo city,Ms.39194 but I kept in contact with her when I could my health fall me also .but y'all have my Deepest condolences ππ» she wants has to be in pain π’ all of y'all Greiving may God continue to strengthen y'all in the time of your special time.

Our darling Cousin, Queen: Our family has loss an angel, the matriarch of the Austin-Ellis and Common Clan: Our family is sadden to see you leave us. Our hearts are broken; Yet, we know that this flight is the best ride for your soul at this juncture. Nevertheless, we'll cherish the many decades of memories, love and conversations that you've entrusted us with to appreciate. We'll forever treasure and honor the love that we shared as a member of the Ellis-Austin clan. We'll forever acknowledge your branch in our family tree because it shines as a role model for generations to come. Your example of family will be the footprint for the next generation to emulate as well. As the matriarch of the Ellis-Austin Clan, our family thank you for all the examples and pathways you shouldered for us. Your footprints will aid us via enculturation to stand tall in faith and fortitude. We're blessed to have had you as a leader in our family tree! You raised the standard bar high in possibilities, opportunities and success. We love you with all of my hearts, and we thank God for your presence on this universe! The memories we made collectively, the love we shared, and the family loyalty you exhibited is the road map that we'll follow for years to come.
