OBITUARY:
Susie Ann Claiborne McGary, affectionately known as “Ann” was born on January 8, 1955, in Lexington, MS to L M and Mae Alma Claiborne. She was the 4th child of seven children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rose Hill M.B. Church. Susie graduated from Tchula Attendance Center in 1973. She was employed for many years at Mississippi Uniform, SportRack, and later at Life Help Mental Health Center being a true servant and faithful employee.
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Susie Ann passed away at St. Dominic's Hospital surrounded by family and friends praising God for His grace and mercy. She was the heart and soul of her family with a fun-loving, giving, and caring spirit, and willingness to share advice-whether you wanted it or not—a constant source of warmth and laughter. Her kitchen was a revolving door for anyone who needed a hot meal, a word of wisdom, or a good-natured scolding. Her legacy is not just in the advice she gave-the tough love, the timely words, the jokes-but in the way she made everyone feel like they had a second home and a second mother.
She leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly, including her five children:
Christopher Claiborne, Shuronda Claiborne-Common (Christopher), Roderick Claiborne, Yakimba Claiborne, Nicole Claiborne, four bonus children, Bridgett McGary, Frederick Mike, Lisa Meeks-Jean (Claude), Lee Mike, 7 grandchildren: Kalyn Davis Jr., Christopher Anderson, Roderick Claiborne Jr., Lakambia Claiborne, Imaria Claiborne, Tristan Commings, Brayden Commings, 13 bonus grandchildren, 9 Great grandchildren, One sister: Melva (Vernon) Hudson, Chicago, IL; two brothers: L M Claiborne (Delmethric) Louisville, MS and Maurice (Lucille) Corinth, Atlanta, GA, and a host of extended family and friends who were all family to her. Her memory will live on in every shared story, every laugh, and every piece of unsolicited but ultimately cherished advice She was preceded in death by her parents L M and Mae Alma Claiborne, husband, Lee Henry McGary and four siblings, Joe Nathan Patterson, Johnnie Mac Patterson, Cornelius Claiborne and Alma Jean “Debbie” Claiborne.
