Anthony (Tony) Glenn Gilmore was born to the late Gwendolyn Chestnut-Gilmore and the late Pastor D.R. Gilmore in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Tony was educated in the Harrisburg School District and was a proud graduate of William Penn High School, where he focused his studies on Hospitality and Restaurant Services. His interest in people and serving others led him to hold several positions in the hospitality and restaurant industry over the years. His easygoing spirit and sense of humor made him well-liked wherever he went.
One of Tony’s greatest passions was football. He was a devoted Las Vegas Raiders fan through and through. He loved talking about the team, reliving memorable plays, and engaging in spirited conversations about upcoming games. Family and friends could always count on Tony to share his predictions, analysis, and excitement whenever the Raiders took the field.
Tony’s act of love was his care for his family. For several years, he selflessly served as a caregiver to both of his parents, showing deep devotion and compassion during their times of need. His loyalty and willingness to serve reflected the love and character instilled in him throughout his life.
He enjoyed laughing, sharing stories, and spending time with those he cared about most. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to make others feel at ease in his presence.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Sharie Harris (Juan), Renita Jones (Sheldon Ripley) and Anthony G. Gilmore, Jr. (Shaniqua Richardson); thirteen grandchildren; his siblings, Kevin Gilmore, Sr. (La-Kita), Jeffrey Gilmore, Sr. (Chamane), Cassandra Gilmore-Jones (Al Jones) and Jeremy Gilmore, Sr. (Monisha); along with nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, extended family and many friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Anthony’s life was marked by love and laughter. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
His life will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
To the Gilmore family. I am so sorry for your loss. Tony was full of laughter and fun. I remember one time when he was driving us to an event. My mother and I were in the backseat. He was driving so quick and fast that once we reached the top of the hill we both sat up in the car. He turned and laughed and we looked back and laughed too. He will definitely be missed, especially his love for wrestling and he just enjoyed having fun. You're always in my prayers and I am praying for you and this difficult time. Elder Fernandus Moffitt
