Anthony Mark McKinnon was born in Jacobi Hospital in New York City. He was the only child of Vernell McKinnon.
Anthony spent forty-two years at work. In his first position, he assembled a wide range of things in a workshop for FEGS in New York. After moving to Pennsylvania, he started working for Goodwill before moving on to Vision Resources and eventually becoming a janitor for the PA Air National Guard in Middletown, Pennsylvania.
Anthony’s favorite pastimes were bowling, wrestling, game shows, shopping at the mall and collecting all types of ink pens. He enjoyed going to Special Olympics, Sun Shiner's Club and Speak Out with his friends.
While living in New York, he traveled to the Bahamas. He also went to a lot of sporting events, including baseball, basketball and whale watching. Anthony’s ability to recall the birthdays of everyone he encountered was miraculous. He treasured the time he spent with his loved ones and friends. He was a devoted and loyal son, cousin, nephew and friend. Anthony had a deep affection for his caregivers.
Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carrie and Hearley; aunts, Joyce and Geneva and uncles, Hearley, Michael and Raymond.
Along with a wealth of cherished family members and friends, Anthony is survived by his devoted mother, Vernell and his aunts, Margie and Karen, as well as a large number of cousins, great cousins and great-grand cousins.
Anthony died on February 19, 2026 and everyone who loved and knew him will miss him.
His life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in the Chapel Of The Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton.

Mason and Anthony met at Red Strikers Bowling and Speaking for Ourselves monthly events. Anthony and Mason always sat together there and talked. Mason would help Anthony when there were craft evenings. They were making bracelets one evening and Anthony dropped his before I could tie it. Mason gave him one of his. Anthony from that day on would tell Mason "You are my best friend." Anthony had an amazing kindness, and we always looked forward to seeing him weekly for one of his hugs! Our prayers and thoughts have been and will continue to be with you! Mason and Bobbi
Prayers of comfort and strength over Anthony's family & friends. Kenyay is already missing him not bowling in His lane. They have been lane buddies, since Red Crown. He was the first person to cheer for Kenyay and taught Kenyay how to cheer on the other bowlers. His sweet spirit will be missed.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
