Obituary For Barbara Crawford

Barbara Ann Crawford, beloved mother, sister, aunt, wife and friend.

Born at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. Barb was the daughter of the late Bessie Lorraine Dandy and the late Frank Jerry Pressley, both originally from Anderson, SC.

She had multiple occupations, including being a CNA at Polyclinic Hospital. She also worked as a bus driver/monitor at the Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church located on North Third Street in Harrisburg.

Barbara volunteered in the community at the Senior Citizen Center and the Neighborhood Center, where she served as a food distributor for Central PA Food Bank.

She was a former member of the Rodkey Rd Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she served many years as a ministry pioneer. She enjoyed reading her bible, sharing the gospel and attending Brookfield Bible Church with her daughter. She found joy in being around family, watching crime shows and court TV, word search puzzles, coloring, playing cards and mahjong.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Colston D. Ross, Sr. and Roosevelt J. Crawford; her sisters, Minnie Carrington, Reather Mae Knight and Mary Margaret Pressley; her favorite niece, Connie Lee Brown; grandson, Colston Duran Collins and God-brother, Milton S. Brown, Jr.

She is survived by her three children, Duran, Demetrius and Shalanda Ross, all of Harrisburg; her favorite stepson, Michael Crawford (Brenda) of Tennessee and many other stepchildren; her half-sister, Doris Norris; her grandchildren, Ravion Collins, Dashawn Lee, Khiri Arter, Destiny Ross, Kajuan Ross and Patience Goodlief; several great-great grandchildren; a great-niece, Arleen Brown; a niece, Sharita Pressley and a host of great-great nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family extends gratitude to the nursing staff at Oakhill Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Homeland Hospice of Central PA.

Barbara's life will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Friday, January 30, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 12 Noon and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
