Bernice “Nove” White was born November 30, 1933 to the late Elijah Taylor and the late Willa Mae Davis in Columbia, South Carolina. She moved to Steelton, Pennsylvania at the age of 6 years old and grew up on the West Side on Christian Street.
She attended the Hygienic School in Steelton. She began her working career at the Old Cigar Factory for 14 ½ years and retired from the former Dauphin Manor Nursing Home after 20 years of service.
Bernice loved cooking, making her cakes and sweet potato pies and playing her numbers daytime and nighttime. She loved being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her special friends, Esther Hailey Corbit, Pat Jones and Betty Black.
She peacefully departed this life on Monday, August 31, 2026. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis White; her sister, Evelyn Nancy White and her brothers, Issac White and William White.
Bernice leaves to cherish precious memories of her, her children, Gordon White, Sr., Stanley White, Annetta White and Hedy White; her grandchildren, Lictoria White, Isiah White, Quennel White, Gordon A. White, Jr., Todd Abney, LaQuan Abney, Jr. and Anyea Abney; her great grandchildren, Cherish, Layla, Ameriah, Kaiveon, Aden and Amir White; her brother, Michael Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 N. Front Street Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
