Obituary For Betty Porter
Betty Jillian Porter, daughter of Debbie Porter and the late Warren Ray, was born in Harrisburg, PA.
She transitioned leaving behind a legacy of unwaivering faith, boundless love and selfless service. She loved God, and her life was a reflection of her love for God and family.
Betty was reared in Harrisburg and raised in the New Hope Living Baptist Church, where her spiritual foundation was firmly rooted at an early age. She received her notable growth award as well as her GED. She was a dedicated and hard working woman. She was employed with Maximus Healthcare.
She loved to sing and was on the praise and worship team at her church All Nations, and wherever she was needed.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Warren Ray; her grandfather, Pete Porter; her grandfather, Cleveland Wade; her grandmother, Betty Williams and her grandmother, Pastor Elista Waters.
She leaves to cherish precious memories of her, her mother, Debbie Porter; her daughter, Tyquassia "Ty" Porter; her brothers, Pete (Tia) Porter, Darryl Shaw, Tre Warren Anderson and Fareed Ray; her sisters, Dorothy Ray and Dequadra Taylor; her aunts, Karen Porter and Mary Edith (Derrek); her uncles, James H. Porter III, Brian Wade, Justin Wade and Douglas Smith; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Betty's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in the Sanctuary of New Hope Living Baptist Church, 395 S. Second Street, Steelton with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Betty, Hearing of your passing and reading your obituary is honestly all too surreal for me! I will never forget how Uncle Jimmy would always have you and I assist him with songs for numerous home going's that most of the time we did not know the words to lol but faked it til we made it because Uncle Jimmy told us to! I shall truly miss your presence at these services and will always remember us being together at them. May your family try to find peace as we already know you truly found rest in the arms of the Savior you loved singing and glorifying God about! I met Betty when I visited from New Haven, Connecticut, with my RIM City family. From the very first time we met, we clicked. Betty was real, genuine, and one thing I can honestly say is that she did not play! She was strong, straightforward, and unapologetically herself. That is what I admired and loved about her.
We stayed in touch through Facebook and phone calls over the years, and I will always cherish our friendship and conversations. Betty left a lasting impression on my life, and I am grateful that our paths crossed.
