CHARLOTTE ANN RILEY-LUMPKIN, 77, of S. 3rd St., Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. She was born in Harrisburg, the oldest child of Clarice Riley Clark, attended Harrisburg School District, involved in the church in her earlier years, an employee of the former Zommit Cleaners on 6th and Reily Streets as a seamstress. Her gifts for sewing, crocheting and designing would soon take her on a memorable entrepreneurial journey that defined her life as a businesswoman. Charlotte loved gospel music and in her leisure, she enjoyed crocheting clothes for dolls to give away, sketch artistry as well as antiquing and refinishing furniture. Charlotte created the crocheted swimsuit before the designers in Paris and continued to crochet and create up until her death. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star on Progress Avenue and The Elks Lodge in Camp Hill sharing her passion for giving, caring and philanthropy. In honor of her entrepreneurial spirit, her giving and caring nature, all of Charlotte’s professional clothing will be donated to the “Dress for Success” program to give other young women the chance to shine like a bright star as she did.
