Obituary For Debrah "Tamou" Caccavo Fountain

Debrah Brigitte Caccavo was born in Moshi, a town resting beneath the majestic foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Born to Giovanni M. and Maria R. Caccavo, she was lovingly known throughout her life as Tamou—a name that became synonymous with warmth, grace, and light.

From her earliest years, Tamou radiated a presence that captured both the eye and the soul. She attended St. Joseph’s for elementary school in Dar es Salaam and later continued her education at Kibosho Girls Catholic Secondary School in Moshi, Tanzania. Even in her youth, her heart was drawn to creativity and expression. She loved acting, performing, traveling and bringing joy to others—passions that would shape her path and spirit throughout her life.

Her natural elegance and poise led her into the world of modeling in Nairobi, Kenya. It was there that Tamou and her daughter, Sorayah, met Michael J. Fountain. From that pivotal meeting, a lifelong bond was formed and a beautiful family began to grow.

After relocating to the United States, Tamou flourished in many trades before dedicating herself to a career in the medical field. Through determination, perseverance and self-education, she became a medical assistant. In this role, her compassion, steadiness and gentle presence were deeply felt by all those she served.

Tamou found joy in cooking and sewing and her spirit came alive through dancing, entertaining and caring for her health and well-being. Yet, above all else, her greatest joy—her deepest fulfillment—was the love she shared with her family and friends. Her life was a tapestry woven with laughter, warmth and cherished moments.

Even in her final days, Tamou continued to give freely of her love, offering it through her radiant smile and unwavering grace. Though she is no longer with us, her sweetness lingers in every memory. We take comfort in knowing she now walks the streets of gold, her spirit forever shining with the beauty, tenderness and love that defined her life.

At 67 years, 1 month, and 13 days of age, Tamou transitioned peacefully into eternal life on January 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and sister. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Michael J. Fountain; her children, Sorayah, Jahred and Bianca Fountain, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her beloved grandchildren, Khaddon Hopkins, Azhayah and Maurice Thomas; great grandchildren, Sahe Hopkins, and Aydin Thomas. She is also survived by her siblings, Louis Caccavo (Daniella) of Italy, Sylvia Trowbridge (James) of Wisconsin and Raymond Caccavo (Angela) of Tanzania, along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Her life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton and burial in Paxtang Cemetery on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Broken hearts happen when a beautiful, bright light goes out. Healed hearts happen because somehow, someway that extinguished light leaves flickers of brightness, drops of joy, and an overflow of love. You brought us great joy. You scolded when needed. You loved many who felt love less. You educated ignorance without demonstrating arrogance. You showed courage and understanding when it seemed neither existed. Most.of all, you showed love, devotion and acceptance of family, chosen and by birth.

Your departure creates a tectonic shift, and yet, in Michael, Bianca, Jahred, and Sorayah and the grandchildren, you live on. Dearest sister soar higher than the eagles - higher than the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Until we see each other again, keep soaring and sharing your beauty, light, and love even as you rest in the arms of the One who created you. We love you.
