Mr. Gary Wayne Dixon, one of six children, was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District and later built a strong work ethic through his employment, including his time at the UTZ potato factory in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Gary departed peacefully from this life on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at UPMC West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Gary was a loving and kind-hearted man who touched the lives of many with his warm spirit. He had a deep passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar in a band. He especially loved the sounds of Earth, Wind & Fire. Gary was also an avid movie watcher, a true fan of dining out, and found joy in simple pleasures like snacking and spending time outdoors.
He leaves to cherish precious memories of him, his son, Atman Walters; his daughter, Clover Walters; his brother, Roger Dixon, Sr.; his sisters, Debra Harris- Washington, Gail Rawlings, and Christine Harris; his five beloved grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Dixon; his father, Harry Harris and his sister, Joyce Harris.
Gary's presence, love, and laughter will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
His life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton.
