On December 20th, 2023 Georgia Ann Mays, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, transitioned into the eternal peace of our Father. Georgia was born the third child of James and Judith Fountain (nee Barbee).
Georgia was a pillar of strength, a source of unwavering support, and the heart of the Mays household. Her legacy is not only one of love and compassion but also a testament to the enduring power of a life dedicated to others. In addition to her role as a loving mother, Georgia was an accomplished professional who, after earning an associate degree from Harrisburg Area Community College, was employed as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
She also had a career in federal government as an employee of Olmstead Air Force Base and New Cumberland Army Depot. Georgia was a member of Camp Curtin Memorial-Mitchell and Grace United Methodist Churches where she enjoyed volunteering and singing in the senior choir.
Georgia also enjoyed volunteer work wherever she was needed within the community.
She was predeceased by her husband, Capt. William Mays; her parents; brothers, James and Kenneth Fountain and sisters, Marjorie Fountain and Judith C. Hill. Georgia is survived by her daughter and son, Rhonda and Ronald Mays; grandchildren, Arica Broadus, Jhan and Walter Machado; five great-grandchildren, Arianna, Alanna, Annalise, Anthony and Anilah; a sister, Jessie Fordham and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom will continue to cherish her memory and carry forward the life lessons she imparted.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Georgia A. Mays will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Major H. Winfield Funeral Home with viewing and visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
We invite all friends and family to join us in honoring her memory and sharing stories of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a non-profit of your choice supporting individuals living with autism and/or The Fair Housing Council of the Capital Region, Inc. at www.pafairhousing.org/donate.

I would like to send deepest condolences and prayers 🙏 to the family may God bless you Robert collier
My condolence to the family, I remember her well as we worked for the commonwealth of Pa.DPW for years and she was always a pleasant person to talk to. We had a many laughs together. RIP.
This is a beautiful picture of Miss Georgia, and exactly how I will always remember her. Miss Georgia did not hesitate to speak her mind and her truth. In my eyes, she was a dignified, matriarch rooted in the love of family and community. She led by example and was uncompromising in the pursuit of a quality, well-rounded education for children. We are sending you peace and light as you make your journey in the afterlife. Rest in peace Queen Mother! To the entire family and especially her beloved and dutiful daughter Rhonda, we send our deepest condolences.

Rest in paradise Aunt Bubbles. I'll never forget the good conversations we would have during my childhood summer visits and your kind heart, warm smile and quick wit.
Aunt Bubbles and the entire Mays family have always been pillars in our Harrisburg community.
She always let you know exactly what she was thinking and would give it to you straight if you wanted to hear it or not (but it was always needed).
Much love to Aunt Bubbles, Rhonda, Ronald, and all the family.
May peace and our Lord's blessings be with Aunt Bubbles and all of you always.
Much love, Byron & Lori
