Geraldine Mae Duffin Hamilton was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Richard Fenton Duffin and the late Dorothy Grigsby Duffin.
She received her formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System and was a proud graduate of the former John Harris High School. She continued her education and took a Business course at Thompson Business College.
In November 1955, she was the 1st black person in the Harrisburg area to start working for Bell of Pennsylvania (Verizon). During her 30 years with Bell, she became a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, which is a nationally known organization. She was also a member of the Federation of Telephone Workers, which was the Union at that time. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons and a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. In December 2003, she became a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church.
On Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the age of 88, Geraldine Mae Hamilton closed her eyes and went home for her just reward with the Heavenly Father.
She leaves to cherish precious memories of her, a loving godchild, Catherine Bouie; a cousin, Betty Worthy and a few other relatives and friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 in the St. Paul Episcopal Church, 248 Seneca St., Harrisburg with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
