Gina Kay Meade, daughter of the late Betty Brandt Robertson and the late Duval “Duke” Robertson was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
She received her formal education in the Lebanon Public School System and was a 1976 graduate of Lebanon High School. She began her working career with the Federal Government starting at the Lebanon VA. She later accepted employment with the United States Postal Service from where she retired. Gina was active with the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) serving in many positions to include union steward, business agent and union president. She served as the full-time president of the Keystone Area Local where she dedicated herself to supporting the working people whether it was filing grievances, negotiating settlements, walking picket lines, or arbitrating cases. She also worked with the AFL-CIO in her union capacity.
In her leisure, she loved to travel. She never missed planning a summer beach trip with her daughters and with her friends or visiting Atlantic City with her sister. Recently she found a love for cruising which allowed her an opportunity to visit many Caribbean Islands. “Mama Gina” as she was affectionately referred to by many had a green thumb and enjoyed maintaining her plants, flower beds and garden. If her grandson, Bronx, had a love for a particular fruit or vegetable she would grow it. She and Bronx enjoyed watching the garden grow and harvesting their favorites, tomatoes and strawberries, which often didn't make it for others to try. You could also find her cheering on the New York Yankees either at a baseball stadium or on TV and ordering something from QVC.
Her greatest joy was holding the title, “Mimi”. Her grandson Bronx had her wrapped around his little finger from the time he was born. From going on walks, to the playground, swimming or riding bikes, playing in the yard, baking cookies and planting in the garden, she was truly the best Mimi!
