JOHN FRANCIS FRYE, JR., 85, transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was born to the late John F. Frye, Sr. and the late Inell McClennon Frye in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as the newest edition to complete a family of four that included an older sister. “Beep”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his formal education in the Harrisburg School System and graduated from the former John Harris High School in 1955. In 1960, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Finance Administrator and Paymaster. He was accepted into Officer Candidate School, but elected to end his military service and return to Harrisburg. On August 20, 1960, he married the former Shevolkia Fowler. The couple welcomed two sons, Claude Keith and John Francis III. Among John’s numerous accomplishments, he earned a Master’s Degree from Lincoln University; served on the Harrisburg City School Board; was appointed Harrisburg City Business Administrator; served on the board of Harristown Development Corporation and on the board of Alternative Rehabilitation Communities (ARC). John was a proud member of Club 21 and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, as well as a former member of Frontiers International. John’s church service includes a fifty plus year membership at Capital Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He also served as a President of the Presbyterian Synod. Following more than thirty years of employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, John retired from the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission. Other than his time in the service, Beep was a resident of Harrisburg. He tirelessly served his community as a leader of civic organizations, being involved in political campaigns and delivering Meals-On-Wheels to the elderly. He was a proud and doting father and supported his sons in all of their endeavors. He was also a “neighborhood dad” making sure that any kid that wanted to participate but may not have had the means was able to join in. Beep enjoyed traveling to NFL games, The Final Four and other sports events. He also enjoyed cruises and vacationing in all corners of the globe. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his older sister, Constance “Connie” Frye. He is survived by his loving sons, Claude Keith and John Francis III; his grandchildren, Malcolm Mays, Malik Frye and Brianna Frye and a host of other family members and friends. His life will be celebrated on Friday, December 2 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Capital Presbyterian Church at 1401 Cumberland St., Harrisburg, PA 17103 with visitation from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by burial with full Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. A Repast will follow the Committal Service in the Social Hall of Capital Presbyterian Church. Due to COVID 19 mask are required for all attendees.
Sorry for you lost. Uncle Beep was a mess, will truly be missed. Live Renita

To Mr. Frye and family, How do you share innumerable fond memories? There are too many for me to relate...and every memory powerful, warm, and inspiring. It seems like Mr. Frye was always in my life at some point. From high school, through college, he was always there with kind, supportive words of encouragement. I always looked forward to voting in elections, not just for the opportunity to follow through on a civic duty, but to know that I would see Mr. Frye'e face, always smiling, pleasant, and welcoming. It was the same during the Midterms, November 2022. There he was, arms outstretched, waiting for me to embrace him, as I always did. There was the time Mr. Frye called me when I was living in Gainesville, Florida. He was on a layover on one of his many adventures, but still made time to reach out to have a quick dinner with me before traveling on. There were the many events sponsored by the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, events he shared with his brother and my father Julius V. Reeves, Jr. My father always spoke reverently about Mr. Frye, and when my father died, Mr. Frye was there to support me, just like he has done for countless others. I can't even begin to explain how much John Frye will be missed. But what I do know is that he will always be in my heart. Chrissy Reeves-Darden, Harrisburg, PA.
Condolences and prayers to the family of John. I worked with him at L&I.
My sincere condolences to John and his brother Keith, all of the family and friends of Mr. Frye. Just saw pictures of him at the senior brother's lunch, fellowshipping with his fraternity brothers Omega Psi Phi, Inc. and I remember what a hardworking, dedicated, kind brother and friend he was to all. He had a special bond with my Dad and we will miss him. May God comfort all who knew him, love him and will also miss him. God bless you with peace and strength to carry on. Sincerely, love Angie Gumby and Family

Mr. Frye, my dear neighbor, rest gently. I will miss you and our fence talks while the puppies played. Family, my sincere condolences.
While I myself never had the privilege of meeting Beep, I have had the joy of knowing his granddaughter, Brianna. He leaves behind a strong family, which I believe must speak volumes to who he was as an individual. My thoughts and prayers with you all, Frye family. - Maddie
