Leonard Elton Fletcher transitioned to his eternal resting place on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 in his home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Leonard was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the eldest son to the late Elton Royal Fletcher and the late Mattie Kate Banks.
He received his formal education from the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Overbrook High School class of 1969. Leonard worked at Fidelity Bank, before starting his career with the federal government. While working at Fidelity Bank, he completed a course of study in the field of Electronics. He started working at the Aviation Supply Office as a Computer Specialist in Philadelphia. There he met his wife, Donna Marie Allen and on April 21st, 1979, they were wed. From this union they were blessed with two children, LaDonna Denine and Leonard Edmond.
Leonard was a hard-core “West” Philly native who had a multitude of neighborhood friends. In Philly, the term “corner-boys” meant something special. He and his friends enjoyed a bond that was never broken, in the best of times, and in the worst of times. “Bones” as he was known by the neighborhood family and friends, was truly loved.
Leonard was a hard worker taking on many tasks and jobs during his 41 years of service to the Defense Information Systems Agency of the Department of Defense in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He received many accolades and achievements before retiring as a Team Lead and Shift Supervisor in the Office of Personnel Management. Leonard was widely respected by peers and senior management. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, home repair, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles play.
He leaves memories in the hearts and minds of his loving daughter, LaDonna Fletcher; son, Leonard Fletcher; granddaughter, Zakaria Mims; his sisters, Donna Hill (George) and Valerie Fletcher-Mitchell (Ceylon Mitchell - deceased); brother, Mark Fletcher; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Allen and Shirley Joseph and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Leonard's life will be celebrated on Thursday, November 7, 2024 with a viewing and visitation in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and graveside service and burial on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1313 S.
